Exciting Progress on the OC-OE Merger: Welcome to Ottawa North!
2025-07-15We’re thrilled to share an update on the merger between Ottawa Centre Minor Hockey and Ottawa East Minor Hockey—an initiative designed to strengthen our programs and deliver an even better experience for our players and families.
Committee Formed
A dedicated merge committee has been established, made up of board members from both associations. This team is working collaboratively to guide the merger process and ensure a smooth transition.
Merge Agreement Nearing Completion
The Merge Agreement—currently in draft form—is expected to be finalized by July 21st. This foundational document will guide our operations during the first year of the merged association. It outlines:
- How we’ll combine assets, operations, and governance
- Roles and responsibilities during and after the merger
- Protections for each association’s interests
- Timelines and milestones for implementation
- Risk and dispute resolution strategies
Brand Identity: You Spoke, We Listened
We’re proud to announce our new name: Ottawa North!
A final survey was sent out this week to choose our nickname. The two finalists are:
- Ottawa North Thunder / Le tonnerre d’Ottawa-Nord
- Ottawa North Huskies / Les huskies d’Ottawa-Nord

What’s Next?
With the committee in place, the agreement nearly finalized, and branding well underway, we’re moving into the next phase:
- Designing the new logo
- Purchasing jerseys
- Planning for the 2025–2026 season
