Reach Out Program
The Reach Out program helps families obtain financial assistance to enable their children age 4+ who want to play Canada's great game of hockey.
If you wish to register your child or children through the Reach Out Program for the 2024 Spring 4 on 4 hockey season please click here - Reach Out Program Registration. After submitting that registration you will be contacted by the Reach Out Committee. You will be given guidance in applying for financial assistance to some funding agencies. Proof of income for the entire household will be required to proceed. This is typically done by providing the CRA Notices of Assessment for all adults in the household to the funding agencies. In other words your income tax return results.
If you are unsure whether you live within the boundaries of the Ottawa East Minor Hockey Assocaition you can get a quick glimpse of our territory if you click on the Ottawa East Map here. If you do not live within our territory, or are unsure, you can check by clicking here HEO Maps where there is an address lookup tool that will tell you where to find the local minor hockey association for where you live.
Donations to the Reachout Program are very welcome. The funding that we help families apply for does not cover all the costs of their kids playing. If you are able to help fund kids from lower income families to play hockey you will have the option to do so when registerieng your own child. We would like to thank the family and friends of Ruslan Yanishevsky who have made a donation of over $10,000 dollars to the Ottawa East Reachout program in 2022. This donation was made in Ruslan's memory to help kids share the love for the game that Ruslan had when he played his minor hockey here.
We would like to acknowledge a $10,000 grant that we received from the Kruger Big Assist Program in 2021. Several individual Ottawa East parents have been kind enough to kick in some cash each season. These donations, and support from the following funding agency partners, have enabled many kids to play hockey this season who otherwise would not.
Their Opportunity, Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund, and Canadian Tire Jumpstart.
We have actually received a touch of media attention. One of our participating families is featured here and another one of our participating players is featured here. The first clip might give the impression that we receive financial support from Scotiabank but that is not the case.
