Police Record Checks (PRC) / Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
Before you lace up your skates or help in the dressing room, all volunteers need to complete a Police Records Check—no exceptions! Since we work closely with kids, this step isn't just important, it's essential for keeping everyone safe and having fun on the ice together.

What You Need to Do:
SCENARIO 1 - Process for Returning Individuals with an HEO validated VSC from 2023 or 2024
Volunteers that are returning for the 2025-26 season, and had their screening approved by HEO this past season with a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) from 2023 or 2024, will only be required to complete the online declaration through the online submission portal for the upcoming season.
SCENARIO 2 - Process for New Individuals or returning individuals with a 2022 VSC
New Individuals must register with their Association prior to submitting their screening to HEO. If you are unsure how to register Please reach out to RiskandSafety@OEMHA.CA
New Team Officials/Volunteers, On-Ice Officials, or Third-Party Instructors, etc. or those with a VSC from 2022 or earlier, Must do the following:

- Obtain a new VSC from their local police.
- Ottawa Police Services website: https://www.ottawapolice.ca/en/contact-us/Police-Record-Checks.aspx
- The HEO letter or the OEMHA letter can be used to cover cost.
- Once the VSC is Returned, you are then be required to submit their new VSC and complete the online declaration for this season. Both are done through the online submission portal.
- Ensure that on the first question, you select HEO as your Ontario member.
